This caused some furor over the weekend at the NSA A State in Birmingham. It seems that in 2 age groups, teams that had lost two games and played 3 came back to play in the championship. I don't like this format. Let's discuss...

This is because of the number of teams playing in the tournament. If you look at the brackets and there are teams that don't play until the second round you have to guarantee that they too have three games if they lose right away.
On the 10U bracket from the NSA A State you see that Red Storm won the first game, then lost the 2nd, which put them in the loser bracket, with the benifit of being able to lose two games. But if the Birmingham Vipers Green would have lost that first game against the Red Storm instead, they would go in the same spot in the loser bracket and have to be given the two game guarantee.
This would have happened if any of the teams in the first round (rockets, red storm, viper 98 or Titans) won the first and then lost the second game.

The 3 Game Wrap, is a bracket to shave games and make a little more money. Just stay with the one pool double elim. Out team stays away from groups the runs the 3 game wrap.
